The Sock Lie

So here's my thing, I admit it freely, but with a wink. When I tell the kids that all their lost socks have been eaten by the sock monster, I'm not entirely joking. There are just too many lonely single socks hiding in the laundry abyss! But yeah, there was one time when I actually bought a new pair of matching socks for my daughter and secretly slipped them into her pile. She was so excited about finding a complete pair that I felt like a hero, but deep down, it's kind of silly to think I could outsmart the great sock void in our house.
