When the New Kid Takes Over My Spotlight
Anonymous Elusive Rascal #671 · General
I've always been that older sister who's into painting and poetry. Mom used to hang my drawings all over the house, and people would come up to me at school just to talk about art or ask for a poem I'd written. It felt like everyone knew me for more than just being 'the oldest.' But then comes this new kid in town, who's only 13, same age as my little sister. This kid starts drawing these amazing comics and suddenly everyone is raving about them. My art teacher even hung one of their comic pages on the wall, right next to a famous artist's work. Now people are asking me if I know this new kid or where they get their inspiration from. It’s like my spotlight has been replaced by theirs overnight. Am I just being petty for feeling this way? Is it normal to feel a bit jealous and lost when someone younger than you seems to take over your creative ground?
