Lost Memories of My Granddaughter's Childhood

I can barely remember the first time my granddaughter walked or said her first word. I feel so old and worried that these small moments are slipping away from me, fading like old photographs left in a damp attic. Do other grandparents lose memories this fast? Am I just being paranoid, or is there something I should be doing to hold on tighter to the precious times with her?
