My Brush With Deception

I told my friend Lily that I had painted this amazing mural at the community center. The truth is, it was just a sketch, and I hadn't even started yet. Why did I do this? Was it to seem more accomplished or less intimidated by her art skills? Now I feel like I've lied about something pointless. It's not like anyone really cares anyway, but still, I shouldn't have made up that story.
