I'm Not Always Honest With My Parents About School

So here's the thing. I know my parents care deeply about my grades and all that jazz, but sometimes it feels like a hassle to tell them every little detail. Like today, instead of saying I had to stay in school late for detention because I got caught with snacks during class (which is such an outdated rule), I just told them I was helping the teacher organize books after hours. They believed me too! It's not exactly lying per se, but it sure does feel like a slippery slope when you start bending the truth just to avoid trouble. Still, next time maybe I'll remember that honesty really is the best policy, even if it means eating those snacks in secret.
