i did a real bad prank at school

ok so im in college and my roommate jake is always complaining about how much i play video games late at night. he keeps saying its really loud and hes trying to sleep. ive been super stressed with midterms coming up and gaming has been my escape but i dont wanna get kicked out of our dorm because of him, you know? so the other day i woke up super early to study for an econ test and saw jake sleeping on his bed with one eye open to the hallway, like hes always worried im gonna do something. i just thought... what if he couldnt sleep at all cuz of my late night noise? so i got this idea. i took his phone and put it under a pile of clothes in his closet. then when he woke up i pretended nothing was wrong but kept making really loud noises, like typing on the keyboard with a spoon or playing music super high. after about an hour of him complaining about how bad it sounded, i told him his phone started ringing off the hook and to check out the messages for help. hes been so paranoid about all these random beeps and buzzes ever since, its kinda hilarious but he hasnt said anything more about me playing at night. now im worried if this was too far or just payback, am i the asshole?
