i was that kid who ruined our group project

so i'm in this calc class with like 30 ppl and we have to do these big end of the semester projects. it's just a small group thing, my group has 4 people and one is this girl sarah who always tries so hard to be the team leader. i hate that about her but she gets good grades in class and stuff, like i don't really want to be an asshole or anything. but we start working on the project and right off the bat, i get all these wild ideas for how to do it. everyone else is like just keep it simple, but no, i have this big vision of a cool interactive chart with graphs that move based on user input, which sounds great in theory but gets super complex fast. we start working and sarah is all about the plan, thinks it's gonna be amazing, but i know deep down she has no clue how to do half of what i'm thinking. so i work really hard, stay up nights coding this thing. meanwhile, the other guys in our group are like just stick with something easy and we'll get an a. but my project goes wild. the interactive chart turns into some monster program that crashes all the time and none of us can figure out how to fix it before the deadline. it's a disaster. i end up blowing off everyone else's work, telling them i'm too busy fixing this thing to worry about our simpler parts. in class we present and our project is an absolute mess, it doesn't even run half the time. we get like a c-, which sounds good on paper but we totally could have gotten better with a more straightforward approach. afterwards i feel great - i did my thing and wasn't afraid to go big or break things along the way. but man, everyone in our group hates me now. sarah keeps going off about how i messed up everything by ignoring her advice and trying too hard. meanwhile the rest of them just want to do easy work next time. i guess my pride got in the way but you know what - i did it my way and i stand by that.
