Bored Out of My Mind at Work This Week

So I guess my week at work can be summed up as 'stifling boredom.' Nothing really happened, we got a new intern who is just as clueless about the office as everyone else, but apparently I'm supposed to be their mentor or something. It's not that they're incompetent; it's just the same cycle of emails and meetings with no real progress for days on end. My desk neighbors are still bickering over whose coffee maker gets used more often, and our boss is busy sending out cryptic Slack messages that nobody understands until someone accidentally deletes a critical file. Then there’s the usual Monday-to-Friday routine: morning stand-ups where we discuss how unproductive everyone was yesterday, and then afternoon check-ins where we plan to be equally lazy tomorrow. On Wednesday, I overheard my boss planning a surprise team-building activity for next week, something called 'Escape Room Extravaganza.' Personally, I’m not excited about it at all. The last time our department did something team-related, half the group got hopelessly lost and had to call security. It’s like we’re trying too hard but failing spectacularly. But here's what really pushed me over the edge: Today I was tasked with printing a memo that no one actually needed, just so everyone could look busy while they were supposedly working on other stuff. And then my boss decided to send out an all-staff email about how productive we’ve been this week and hinted at more surprises if we continue improving (rolls eyes). Really? We've spent the last five days printing unnecessary memos and pretending we're doing something important. So here’s what I’m wondering: Am I really being too cynical about this, or is it time to start looking for a new job where they actually appreciate genuine productivity over this facade of constant busyness? Comments below would be appreciated.
