started knitting but it makes me sad

i started knitting a few weeks ago thinking it would be relaxing and i could make stuff for my friends. but every time i pick up the needles, all i can think about is how many hours of my life ive lost to mindless scrolling on my phone or watching useless videos instead of learning something useful or spending quality time with people. it feels like a waste now that im trying to do something productive
