I know honesty is the best policy, but sometimes when my elderly patients are feeling down, I tell them small fibs to cheer them up. Like saying their grandkids sent a care package with a funny card inside when it was really me who wrote it and slipped it into their room...It's like being a magician or something, making someone smile just by spinning a little tale. I don't feel super guilty about it either, because my fibs are never big lies that could hurt anyone. They're more like sweet whispers of hope when the world seems too gray. But yeah, I guess you could call me a lying saint...
