I'm Always The One To Bring Up Past Wrongs

So here's a thing about me: I’m always the one in my family to bring up past mistakes and wrongdoings. Whenever we have a family dinner or get together, inevitably, I start rattling off things that happened years ago. Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I'm trying to be mean or ruin everyone else's fun; it’s just how my mind works. Every time someone mentions the dog we had back in high school, it takes me right back to when he dug up the garden beds and Mom screamed at us for a week after. Or if Dad jokes about that camping trip where our tent collapsed because I hadn’t set the stakes deep enough, I’m immediately on high alert to counter with how he refused to buy better quality tents despite my pleas for something more durable. It’s like there’s an unspoken rule in my family that someone has to bring it up eventually, and if I don't do it, no one else will. And honestly? I feel a sense of relief when the moment finally comes because I’ve been holding onto these grievances longer than anyone else should have to. So yeah, I'm not sorry for being the one to keep the history alive; it’s part of my family's legacy and I’d do it again.
