...Sometimes I Lie About My Age...

So there's this weird thing I've been doing lately. Whenever someone asks how old I am at parties or social events, and it feels like the conversation is moving in a direction where they're gonna start talking about mortgages, retirement plans, or my favorite TV shows from the nineties... I just slip in that I'm two years younger than I actually am. It's silly because it doesn't even affect how old I look or act, but there’s this fear of being seen as too old for something or not young enough to relate anymore. Yeah, yeah, age is just a number and all that... But I really can't explain why this lie feels like the only way out sometimes....
