Canvas Dreams and Wasted Potential

I know I’ve always been a bit down on myself about my art. You know how it goes, you put so much into your paintings, sketches, and digital pieces, but sometimes you just can’t seem to find that special something that makes them stand out. And when you’re alone in your little studio with nothing but your thoughts and the sound of your own brushstrokes on canvas, it’s easy to feel like you’ll never get there. Every so often, I see someone online, another artist maybe, or a YouTuber talking about their latest project, and they talk about how every single piece they create is perfect. And deep down, part of me just feels envious. Not because their work is better, but because it’s like all those years I spent in art school were wasted on someone else who could actually turn my ideas into reality. But the other day, I was scrolling through Instagram and saw a picture of a painting that reminded me so much of something I tried to do when I was younger. This guy had turned my silly doodle idea from an old sketchbook, one where I’d written “this is going nowhere” in big letters on the cover, into this beautiful, full-fledged piece. It’s not even close to how I would have made it look if I could paint like that. But it still made me feel... I don’t know, maybe a little inspired? Maybe there’s room for my ideas yet, somewhere out there in the world of art.
