Forgot My Mom's Birthday Twice

So here’s this thing I’ve been feeling really guilty about lately. It’s kind of funny but also kinda not because it happened twice now. See, my mom’s birthday is on this random day in March and every year since she was like 50 or something, she asks me if I remember her favorite flower for her cake. Every year, it’s tulips. But here’s the thing: I forgot both last year and this year! Last year, I was thinking about it all day but when mom asked me at dinner, my brain just went blank and I said, ‘Um, roses?’ She laughed and said it was okay, that she knew I’d forgotten in the stress of school stuff. But then THIS YEAR? Same thing! And now I’m starting to worry because maybe I just don’t care enough? Which is ridiculous since I really do love her, but also it’s kind of a big deal to remember a parent’s birthday and all their little things that mean something to them. So yeah, here we are. Two years in a row where mom got the wrong flavor cake and no one was happier than me about having forgotten.
