My Brother's Notebook Prank Gone Wrong
Anonymous Meddling Wallflower #635 · General
So here’s the thing. I’m the oldest of three siblings and I always try to be the role model and look out for my younger brother, Alex. We’re close but also like any sibling dynamic we have our fair share of pranks and bickering. The other day though, something happened that made me question whether some of my antics are truly innocent or just plain mean-spirited. Alex had this notebook where he’d keep all his school notes, sketches, and little doodles, pretty much his whole life on paper if you ask me. I was browsing through it because yes, I’m that kind of big brother (I told myself it’s for ‘creative inspiration’), when I noticed something funny about one of the sketches. So what does a big brother do but take it to our mutual friends and share my find with them? Of course, Alex found out right away. We were all at dinner, and he had this look on his face like I’d just betrayed him by sharing state secrets or something. And now, weeks later, the trust issues are real. Is there a line between sibling pranking and crossing a boundary? Because yeah, I feel bad for invading my brother’s personal space, especially since it was to get laughs at his expense, but also maybe he needed someone else to see that sketch because... well, it was pretty funny. I mean, honestly, sometimes it feels like he can’t take a little joke or something got lost in translation. And hey, is the real question if I should just grow up and not do this stuff anymore? Or am I still allowed to have some harmless fun as an older sibling even when my actions may be questionable? Anyways, here’s to hoping Alex can forgive me for being the kind of big brother who takes their sketchbooks and turns them into social media gold. Maybe next time I’ll ask before taking things out of context.
