Why Did I Do That?

Today during class, something strange happened, I found myself giving my students an extra 10 minutes of recess time just because it was raining outside and they looked a bit down. It's not like me to be so spontaneous with classroom rules, especially when we have work to catch up on. Is this a sign I care too much about their mood over the lesson plan? Or am I just tired from grading papers last night? What do you all think? Am I being a good teacher by adapting to their needs, or should I stick strictly to my schedule?
