The Great Milk Cap Heist of 2023

So here's the deal. I'm a junior in high school and, if you're reading this, it probably means my plan didn't go off without a hitch (and honestly, if it had, why would I be confessing?). The context is that there’s this big milk jug at the back of our classroom for everyone to use when they get thirsty. But let's face it, who really wants to drink out of the same container as 30 other kids? So, a few weeks ago, I got this genius idea (or so I thought) to take one of those little plastic caps from empty water bottles and stick it onto the milk jug spout whenever I drank. That way, it wouldn’t get all splotchy with fingerprints or whatever. Yeah, super brilliant of me, right? Well, apparently my friends noticed this, because soon enough someone told on me to our teacher, Mr. Thompson. Cue the drama. He called me out in front of everyone, 'Did anyone see who put a cap on the milk jug?' Oh boy, was I mortified. But also confused because surely no one could tell it was me? Anyway, now here’s where you all come in. Is this just something kids do and get over eventually, or am I some kind of social pariah for trying to avoid germs? Am I the asshole here, or is everyone else being a bit too harsh? Please let me know what you think before I decide if I should ditch high school and go live on a desert island.
