I Broke My Friend's New Guitar Pickups....

So I had this friend, let's call her Sarah. She just got back from a big music festival where she scored some rare vintage guitar pickups that everyone was talking about online. You know how it goes: gearheads and their never-ending search for the perfect tone... well, Sarah’s pretty close to me in our band, but lately, she’s been bragging like crazy about these pickups, how they cost a fortune, how no one else has them locally. It felt like every other conversation was about how great her guitar now sounds with this new setup and how it's going to take my music to the next level. Now, I've never been really into all that gear stuff myself... I’m more of an attitude and stage presence kind of player. But hearing Sarah go on and on made me feel like a bit of a has-been, you know? She’s not even that much better than me, but she got this thing now that seems to make her some sort of guitar god in my mind.... Anyway, last night we were supposed to practice for an upcoming gig. I had been waiting all day and couldn’t sleep because Sarah was driving us up the wall with anticipation about these pickups. So when she finally showed up... she didn’t have them with her. She said they were still at home, that something came up and she couldn't make it tonight.... And then it happened.... I got so worked up, thinking of all those brags without any proof of the actual sound or effort behind it, that when Sarah went to put away some cables in her case, I snuck over and... well, you can guess. Just took them out and threw them on the ground. The look on her face was priceless though.... She didn’t say a word at first but then she started crying, which honestly shocked me more than anything else. We've been friends for years... this is a really weird thing to do, I know that. But right now it feels like something snapped inside me. So yeah, we’re not speaking and the band's future is uncertain. The funny part though? It’s not even about the pickups anymore. Just how petty and messed up my reaction was....
