Middle-Aged Midlife Crisis...?

So I decided to go back to school for something totally unrelated to my job...now I'm wondering if it's just a midlife crisis or if I actually have some sort of latent passion for astrophysics...anyone else ever done something crazy like this and regretted it later? Am I being rational here, or am I in the midst of a full-blown identity crisis...?
