A Small Lie For A Big Reason...

So here's the thing... I've been working at my same job for almost three decades now. And let me tell you, there are days where even the smallest of tasks can feel like climbing Mount Everest. Last week, our new intern asked if they could take a few days off because their grandma was in the hospital. I know, right? Hospital... big deal, right? But here's the twist: my friend from high school who used to work here called me last night and said his own grandma was in the hospital... it turns out that was our intern's grandmother! I thought for a moment, should I tell them about this or just go with the flow of events as they happened naturally? My gut instinct told me it'd be better if everyone knew what they already believed to be true... So I went ahead and said 'Sure thing, no problem' to the internship days off request. It was just an easy way out for now until things settle down a bit more. And honestly? It feels pretty good to give someone a break when we're all in it together, even if it's not completely true at the moment. So yeah, I'm feeling a little guilty about that... but also oddly proud of myself for doing something nice without overthinking it too much. What do you think? Am I the asshole here or just human? ...
