i always pretend to be busy on my phone at family gatherings

like when everyone is sitting around talking and i just pull out my phone and start scrolling or playing games really obvious like. it’s not that i hate the family, i kinda like them but sometimes the small talk gets so boring. one time i was so into a game that i missed an uncle’s toast for my birthday! i’m such a terrible cousin, right? i mean, i try to be polite and chat every now and then, but come on, it’s not easy to keep up with all the gossip about distant cousins and their kids. oh wait, did you know aunt jen got a new cat named muffins? lol
