i messed up at work big time

so like last week i had this customer who was super drunk and acting all rude and stuff but he was one of my regulars so i tried to be nice and keep the peace. it got really bad though, he started yelling at people and making scenes in the bar area. normally we can handle that kind of thing with a simple stern warning or something but this guy kept pushing boundaries. anyways long story short he was getting too out of hand so i finally told him he had to leave. he got really angry about it, started arguing with me and then he stormed off slamming doors and stuff. the next day he texted me saying how disappointed his wife was in him for causing a scene at my place. but later on i saw one of our other regulars who said that this drunk guy had actually been talking to people all night long bragging about how he was gonna make a scene and get kicked out. so he came into the bar with this whole plan just to ruin things for everyone else, pretending like it was an accident. i guess i feel really bad now because kicking him out might have hurt his relationship worse than it needed to but what could i do? i couldn't let one drunk guy disrupt everything and make everyone uncomfortable. so yeah i messed up at work but not sure if there's a right way to handle these situations when someone comes in with the intention of causing trouble.
