my awkward work moment

i was at this huge networking event last week and somehow ended up getting stuck talking to the cfo of our company for what felt like an eternity. i kept trying to move on but every time i did, he would corner me again with his super awkward small talk about spreadsheets and budgets (who talks about spreadsheets at a party?!). finally i just pretended my phone was dying so i could escape back to the bar, but it took him twenty minutes before he let me go. oh, and then he complimented my shoes like we were in high school or something. now every time i wear them, i cringe
