I Tried To Be Cool And Failed Epicly

Ever since I left home for college, my dad keeps telling me to make new friends and branch out. So last week at the dorm party, I decided to hit on a senior who's pretty popular. I was going to be suave and clever, I practiced some lines in front of the mirror! When I walked up to him, though, he was talking with his group about a test coming up next week. And suddenly I couldn't think straight, every attempt at conversation sounded like something from an 8th-grade boy's locker room talk. Instead of being cool and confident, I ended up just babbling nervously and making it clear how awkward I am. He walked away after two minutes! It was awful, but maybe now I'll learn to be myself around people instead of trying to be someone else.
