My New Hobby of Doodling in Class Is Starting to Get Out of Hand

So, I started this new hobby a few weeks ago. It all began when my art teacher assigned us a painting project. Being someone who's always loved drawing but never really delved into it seriously until now, I was excited. But what I wasn't prepared for was the urge to doodle everywhere outside of class. Lately, every notebook and piece of paper in my backpack ends up with little sketches before I even know what hit me. It started innocently enough. During a particularly boring economics lecture, I couldn’t focus on anything except this blank sheet of graph paper I had for some reason in my binder. Before I knew it, I was drawing tiny little stick figures having an office party in the margins. My professor walked by and gave me a stern look that could only mean, “Get back to work.” The problem is, since then, doodling has kind of taken over. At work, during my lunch break, I find myself scribbling on napkins or notes instead of actually eating. Sometimes it’s just random shapes and patterns, but lately, it’s been more about telling tiny stories through these little drawings. This morning was the straw that broke the camel's back. My math professor handed out a quiz in class. As I started writing down answers, my pen began to move on its own, sketching equations morphed into characters solving their own problems as they faced math monsters. When she collected them at the end of class, it felt like handing over evidence of some strange alternate universe I'd created. So here’s the question that's been gnawing at me: is this okay? Am I the asshole for letting my new hobby get in the way of my studies or work responsibilities? It feels like a small indulgence but there are times when it crosses over into distracting territory. Maybe it’s time to find another way to channel all these creative urges outside of 'real life' situations?
