Learning Guitar Is Like Wrestling With Cats

So I started learning guitar last week, and honestly, it's like trying to wrestle with a bunch of cats. You know how you feel after you've finally gotten them all into the carrier? Yeah, that's my fingers right now. It's been two days and I still can't get past 'Mary Had A Little Lamb' without sounding like someone choking on marbles. But here's what I'm wondering: Is it just me, or is everyone else out there struggling to figure out why you press the little metal thingies down when they're clearly not going anywhere? Because if it's just me, maybe I should stick with air guitar and pretend I have real talent. Anyone else feel like a complete beginner in music land? Let me know, fellow frustrated beginners!
