My Big Lie About the Postman

Today, I fibbed to my neighbor about seeing the postman while she was out. She was waiting for an important package and asked me to keep a lookout. But truth is, I didn't see anyone all day. Instead of admitting I hadn't been checking, I told her that he had already come and gone, probably around lunchtime. Now I'm torn between confessing my oversight or just hoping the postman will make another delivery run soon so she can get her package without knowing how clueless I was.
