i was the asshole at work today

today i spilled coffee all over one of our regulars while serving her and she got really pissed off. it wasn't even that busy but i just spaced out or something and knocked her cup right into her lap. needless to say, i felt terrible about it, so i tried to make it up to her by offering her free drinks every day for the rest of the week and giving her some free pastries too. but then later in the day when she came back to claim her coffee, i totally forgot about everything that happened. just went on with my usual routine as if nothing had ever gone wrong. it was super obvious i was ignoring her because i could see her getting more upset and frustrated as the minutes ticked by. i really feel bad now for forgetting about her after what happened earlier in the day. seems like she came to the shop just to get her free drink, but i acted like it never even happened or mattered at all. totally messed up on my end.
