The Day I Became Roommates with My Nightmare Neighbor

So, here's the thing. You know how sometimes you just can't catch a break? Well, that was me last semester when I got stuck as roommates with this guy named Jack. First day of classes and already in roommate hell. Imagine my surprise when our RA (resident advisor) pairs us up and we're supposed to share one bathroom, two bedrooms connected by a small living area, you get the idea. And it's not just that we don't have much personal space; it's more like I'm stuck with someone who doesn't believe in the concept of being tidy or quiet after 10 PM, ever. First off, Jack's bedtime routine is something to behold. Think he likes to unwind by playing loud music and having impromptu dance parties in our shared living room at midnight? Check. He also thinks it's totally fine to use my side of the bathroom (which I keep immaculately clean) as a dump for all his clutter, including old food containers that smell like they've been there since... well, who knows. And here's the kicker: our RA once mentioned that we're supposed to be each other’s support systems. Sure thing, buddy! Support comes in many forms, but waking up at 4 AM every morning to clean my side of the room and praying for an extra layer of earplugs just isn't what I had in mind. But hey, on the bright side, I've learned a lot about myself this year. Turns out I'm pretty great at cleaning and organizing (even if it's someone else's mess), and my tolerance for noise has been pushed to its limits and back again. Maybe next semester I'll be one of those people who bring earplugs on day one, just in case. Anyway, just venting a little here because... well, because it feels good sometimes to get these kinds of things off your chest. Maybe I should start carrying a spray bottle filled with air freshener and cleaning wipes at all times? Who knows, might turn into my superpower against messy roommates everywhere!
