I'm Afraid of the Dark at Work

So, I work the night shift at a warehouse. It’s mostly empty and quiet except for the occasional beep from the security system. One day, we had to move some heavy machinery late into the night. As it was just me and my coworker Mike working on this task, the lights in that area were off to avoid tripping over anything. You know how you can see your own shadow stretching out ahead of you when there’s enough light? Well, I swear I saw a shadow moving around in the dark corners while we were lifting one of those big machines into place. It looked human but didn’t make a sound. After that night, I’ve been scared to go too far away from the main lights, even if it means missing out on some breaks or skipping tasks just to be safe near them. Sometimes I think I’m overreacting and need to grow up about it, but every time I try going back into those dark spots alone, my heart races faster than I ever thought possible. Yeah, maybe there’s nothing really in the shadows... but if there is something out there, well, I don’t want to know.
