A Stupid Hack at Work

Today I installed a small script that would automatically replace all instances of my boss's name with 'B.O.S.S.' in our team chat logs. It was supposed to be funny, but now every time someone types out an update or question related to him, it triggers this auto-replacement thing. My coworkers noticed right away and thought I was messing around with them instead of helping the team stay organized. Now everyone is avoiding me because they think I'm wasting time. Why did I feel like playing a silly prank would make me seem cool? Now I just look childish.
