The Cat's Out of the Bag - Or Is It?

So today I was working from home, trying to finish up this really important project for a client. You know how it goes, you're in that zone where every keystroke is precious and not even breathing can interrupt your concentration. And then... my cat decided to jump on my desk just as the call with the client went through. I couldn't exactly tell them, 'Hey, could you give me a moment? My cat just wanted to say hi.' So I quickly covered by saying there was some technical glitch and had to step away for a second to fix it. Of course, I knew that cat wouldn't be satisfied with just one visit, but I figured dealing with the tech issue in front of my client would look worse. Anyway, so while they were patiently waiting (or at least pretending to be patient), I scooped up my furry intruder and went into another room. Now I'm pretty sure everyone knows that you can't just put your cat down somewhere else without them making a mess or waking the whole house up. So what did I do? I told the client it was resolved, but they needed to log out and back in again for everything to work properly. I could see in the chat logs how suspicious my client looked at all this. It's been hours since our call, and I'm still waiting for them to send me an email asking about that 'technical glitch.' In hindsight, maybe I should have just stuck with the cat story from the start? But nooo, couldn't do something simple like that. So here we are, a freelancer, trying to keep up this image of total professionalism while secretly dealing with feline-induced chaos. Sometimes you've got to think on your feet, but maybe next time I'll just tell them about my real life instead of making stuff up.
