A Tale of Too Many Teaspoons

I remember like it was yesterday, I was making chocolate chip cookies for my book club. Now, the recipe called for three teaspoons of salt to bring out the chocolate flavors and all that jazz. But when my kids asked if they could help (like how often does that happen?), things got a bit off track. I handed them the measuring spoons, and next thing you know, the dough had more salt than it needed by far. Everyone at the club commented on how salty everything was that night. They were still nice about it though, said they loved seeing my kids' baking skills growing (or should I say over-estimating?). But here's what I'm wondering: am I the only one who’s ever accidentally made a dish too salty and wondered if it’s actually edible? Am I just super sensitive to salt now or is this something normal?
