when i was too good for my own family

soooo i've been the oldest kid in this big messy family for as long as i can remember. it's not like being the eldest is all sunshine and roses though, yknow? there’s always some dumbass younger sibling trying to one-up me or a parent who thinks they know better than what i’m going through. anyway, so last year we got this huge new tv for christmas. my folks were super hyped about it but i was just like ‘okay cool’ because why get excited over an inanimate object? but the kids, oh man, the little ones couldn’t stop talking about it leading up to xmas morning. they kept making these big plans and whatnot and i had to be the one reminding them this is a family thing, not some personal toy just for their enjoyment. so when we finally opened it up, guess who got to do all the setup work? yeah, me. and while i was setting everything up, my mom decided it would be hilarious if she let her favorite nephew (who's like 6) ‘help’ with connecting it to wifi or something. it’s not that he’s incompetent - just a little too excited for his own good. anyway, long story short, we’re in this huge family room trying to get everything working so everyone can watch the new movie everyone bought me and i’m sweating under all the pressure from both ends. one of my brothers is giving me attitude about why it’s taking so long, meanwhile my little sister has started crying because her new game isn’t compatible with our old system anymore. and then there's the aunt who keeps asking if we’re sure everything is set up right. it was like i had to balance between being the cool uncle and the family tech wizard at the same time, which let’s face it, was impossible. now when people ask me what christmas was like this year, i just say ‘i set up a tv’ because that's all i feel like i did.
