Forgot About My Coworker's Birthday

So I totally forgot my coworker Jane's birthday yesterday. It was kind of a perfect storm, I had been working on this one project that took up all my mental space for like two weeks straight. And it didn't help that my home internet went out and the only way to keep sane was binge-watching some show until 3 AM every night, which just made me groggier at work. So there's no excuse really. Now I feel kind of terrible about it because she did remember my birthday last year and bring in this really cute coffee mug with cat stickers on it that I still use all the time. And sure, a day late isn't exactly the worst thing ever, but the idea that maybe someone else at work will get her flowers or something today just makes me feel even worse. I guess my plan is to send her an email tomorrow saying how sorry I am and how much I appreciated the mug last year. But also, hey, it's not like she hasn't had a ton of stuff going on too, maybe she'll understand if I don't make a big deal out of it? It’s just one of those weird things that happens when life gets busy.
