Tiny White Lie

I told my bestie that I had an essay to write, so she couldn't drag me to the mall. The truth is, I just wanted her to go without me and spend time with new guy Mike who keeps giving her all these looks. Silly right? But honestly, I feel bad for fibbing and maybe I should tell her about how I've secretly liked her since we were kids playing in my backyard. It's not like she'd ever notice me now that we're both into different things...but still! Is it okay to lie a little just to keep your friend close?
