I Gave My Niece a Fake Report Card

Last summer, my niece Emma came to visit me for two weeks. She's twelve now and very bright, but also quite competitive with grades and achievements. At first, everything was fine, brought her favorite snacks, let her use my computer for school projects, that kind of thing. But then, she brought up how she wanted to get good enough grades this year to be in the principal's honor roll. She looked so determined, like it really mattered to her. I couldn't help but feel a little jealous, seeing all her energy focused on something I struggled with as a kid, grades and achievements always felt out of reach for me back then. So one day when she was out exploring the garden, I thought, I could make her think she got great grades last quarter. Just to see her face, you know? To maybe feel like everything came easy once in a while. Not that I actually wrote on any real reports or anything, just printed up fake ones with A's and B+'s for every class. I gave it to her when she was about to leave, right before we said goodbye over dinner. She looked so proud and happy, tears even forming at the corners of her eyes. But after she left, I felt terrible, like someone had a hand in my stomach squeezing out all the air. What did I do? It wasn't real, but seeing that look on her face made it seem almost... worth it? I know deep down this isn't okay and I should have just been happy for her achievements without trying to trick anyone, even with good intentions. Am I the asshole here? Or is this something no one will be too bothered about?
