My Secret Crush on the Regular Customer
Anonymous Shifty Fox #999 · General
Every day at work, I see him, John, and my heart skips a beat. He’s always polite and friendly, but when he smiles at me over his morning latte, it feels like something bigger than just a customer service interaction. We chat sometimes about the weather or how long the line is, but there’s this unspoken connection that feels more intense for me. I try not to stare as much as I do, and when he leaves without looking back at me, I find myself checking if he’s still in sight until my shift ends. It’s silly because we probably won’t ever be anything other than coworkers or maybe friends, but the idea of him seeing me differently fills me with a kind of joy that scares me a little bit too. Do any of you have tips on how to handle this? Is it okay for there to be an unspoken connection between a customer and barista without acting on it?
