Lost My Spark

Sometimes I feel like my classroom isn't as lively or engaged as it used to be. It's not that the kids aren't nice or eager to learn; they just seem so lost in their own worlds of screens and instant gratification. This morning, while trying to teach a lesson on creative writing, I found myself talking more about the importance of imagination than actual techniques. By the end, I had this odd urge to read them Dr. Seuss instead of Steinbeck or Hemingway. Maybe if I could get them excited about stories again, they'd start caring about writing too.
