New Knitting Habit Is Stressing Me Out

Anonymous Smitten Gossip #877 · General

So I started knitting last week. My aunt got me a starter kit for my birthday and I thought it would be nice to try something new, you know? But now I'm not sure if I did the right thing... Every time I pick up those needles, I just feel this intense pressure in my head. I keep thinking about all these mistakes I could make, like dropping stitches or making a hole in the pattern. Plus, everyone keeps saying how relaxing it is and here I am stressing out over every little move! Like, there was this one time when I dropped two stitches while trying to make a scarf for my dad's birthday present and I felt so embarrassed. My cat even looked at me like I had lost my mind. I've been thinking about maybe giving it up, but then what if I'm just being too hard on myself? What if the next project goes better? And honestly, there are parts of knitting that do feel really good. Like when you finally get a hang of holding those needles and your hands stop feeling all stiff from not using them properly before. Anyway, I don't know what to think right now about my new hobby. I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually...
