My Sibling's Birthday Party Prank Gone Wrong

So last year for my little brother’s birthday, I was feeling a bit bored and thought it would be funny to prank him. You know how siblings often have these silly inside jokes? Well, he has this thing about frogs that started when we were kids and got hit by one of those rubbery lizards in the face, yuck! So anyway, since he’s older now but still has a soft spot for them, I thought it would be funny to fill his room with plastic toy frogs. I knew he wouldn’t mind because it was all in good fun, right? Well, long story short, Mom found out about my prank and wasn't exactly thrilled. She said it wasn’t appropriate since there were younger kids around at the party and that they could get upset if they saw the frogs everywhere. Plus, it’s her house and she needs to be able to set rules without someone undermining them like that. I did try to take everything down quietly after seeing Mom's face, but it was too late. So yeah, I guess you could say I learned a lesson about respecting boundaries and thinking before acting. And my brother didn't exactly laugh with me over it either, in fact, he looked pretty angry when he came home from school the next day. It’s funny how one moment of lighthearted mischief can lead to weeks of awkwardness. Anyway, I’m writing this because I keep thinking about that time and wondering if there was something I could have done differently to avoid upsetting everyone so much. Maybe it just wasn't my place to decide what's funny for a birthday party, even if I thought it would make people smile.
