A Failed Prank Gone Wrong

So I was trying to pull this funny prank on my coworker Jack. I had heard somewhere that if you put a whoopee cushion under someone's chair, they'd think it's their butt making the noise and get so embarrassed. It seemed like such an easy win for a little laugh between friends. Well, let me tell you, it backfired horribly. Jack is not one to mess around with, he has this way of turning every joke into a lesson. So when I slipped that whoopee cushion under his chair and tried to act innocent, guess what? He immediately knew something was up. Instead of laughing or playing along like I hoped, he got all serious and started questioning me about my motives. It felt so stupid and childish once it happened. We ended up having this awkward conversation where everyone just kept glancing at us because they could see the tension building over Jack's desk. Of course, the real kicker? He found out I was behind it a week later anyway when he got his office chair reupholstered, and that funny little whoopee cushion had fallen out onto the floor right in front of him. Not exactly the laugh riot I was hoping for.
