... I'm So Not Proud Of This ...

So... this past semester has been kinda rough. You know that feeling when you're just... drowning in work and stress? Yeah, that one. It was one of those weeks where every little thing goes wrong. The only person who seemed to have it all together was my TA for my quantum physics class. She's this brilliant PhD student... always knows exactly what she’s doing, super organized... I mean, she probably could teach a class on being perfect, honestly. Anyway, so one day we had this big assignment due, and there's this one problem that just wasn't making sense to me no matter how many times I read it over. The TA office hours were after my last class, which meant getting up way too early in the morning for coffee and a rushed breakfast before heading out. So I decided... to leave my assignment on her desk so she could 'help' me. You know what happened next? She literally just glanced at it as she was leaving and put a little note with some hints beside it before she left. It made me feel kinda small inside, but also relieved because I knew I had something to work with. The funny thing is... the next day, when I finally got around to sitting down to figure out that problem? It actually wasn't as hard as I thought once I stopped stressing about it so much. But then there was this moment of realization: the TA wasn’t just trying to get me to figure things out on my own because she’s a cold-hearted academic... no, she probably did what she always does for all her students, help them learn by nudging them in the right direction without giving away everything. Man, that was embarrassing. I should have gone straight to her with questions instead of trying some stupid shortcut. Now whenever I see her... my cheeks get a little hot. And I’m not even sure if she remembers at all because it’s been ages since that happened. But still... I guess the real confession is that I let my fear and frustration win out over just being honest about what I needed to learn. Sometimes I really wish I could go back in time and be more confident when talking to her...
