Lied About Reading Books

I told my boss I read that new business book she recommended because I felt bad saying I didn't get past the first chapter. It was so boring, and I'm ashamed to admit I might not finish a work-related read just because it doesn't click with me. But hey, no one can prove anything except for the dust gathering on my nightstand where that book sits untouched.
