The Neighbor's Noisy Dog

I've been freelancing from home for over a year now, and everything was going great until the neighbor got a new dog. This isn't your typical barking-behind-the-fence situation; it's more like a 24/7 howling marathon that turns into a full-blown symphony when I'm trying to concentrate on my deadlines. I've considered writing them a letter, but honestly, who has the time or patience for polite communication in this day and age? Anybody else out there dealing with similar frustrations, or am I the only one losing my mind over barking dogs while attempting to work from home? Comments, anyone?
