I Told My Mom I Was At The Library When I Was Really Playing Video Games...

So here's this silly little confession that feels like it should be super embarrassing but isn't really, you know? It's not like I was out getting into trouble or anything. I'm just playing a video game called Stardew Valley and... well, let's just say it can get pretty engrossing. Last week my mom texted me to check in, asking if I wanted her to bring over some laundry detergent because she knew we'd run out soon. And instead of telling her the honest truth, which was that I'm pretty much a video game addict at this point and have no energy left for chores or grocery runs, I just said yeah sure, thanks mom, on my way back home from the library to pick up some books anyway. Because laundry detergent sounds more pressing than books? Please... I know she probably knows I fibbed because she can see right through me (she's that kind of mom), but still... it feels weird being a grown-up and telling white lies like this already. And why do parents always need to know everything, amirite?
