I've Been Scheming Against My Little Sister All This Time

Hey everyone, I’ve been meaning to share this confession with someone for ages now. It’s about my little sister, let's call her Zoe, who is a year younger than me and has always loved playing the victim role in our family. She acts like nothing ever goes her way, and whenever we have a disagreement or fight, she just melts into these dramatic tears that make everyone sympathize with her. I know it’s not fair because sometimes she really does get the short end of the stick, but it doesn’t sit well with me when she uses this tactic to manipulate situations. Growing up, I used to be more lenient and would often give in to whatever she wanted just to keep the peace. But over time, I got tired of her tactics and decided to play a different kind of game. Instead of letting her dictate everything, I started being proactive. If there was something coming that could potentially upset her or give her an upper hand (like dessert), I’d plan ahead and make sure she didn’t get what she wanted, or at least not on her terms. Recently, our parents gave us all a surprise trip to the theme park as a treat for being good students. As usual, Zoe was over the moon and couldn't wait to have all the attention focused solely on her. But I decided that this time around, it wouldn’t be about her, it would be about making sure she didn’t get everything she wanted without putting in some effort herself. Throughout the trip, anytime there were lines or rides everyone else enjoyed, Zoe tried pulling out her usual tricks of crying and pouting until someone caved. But instead of giving in, I pointed out to our parents how unfair it was that she could just throw a tantrum to get what she wanted. It wasn’t easy standing up to her like this because my family is generally on her side when she gets upset. I still feel conflicted about this approach though, am I the asshole for finally fighting back against someone who’s constantly playing victim, or am I justified in trying to make sure she learns not everything will always go her way? The more I think about it, the more it feels like a win-lose situation rather than everyone winning. But sometimes you have to stick up for yourself when no one else will.
