Late-Night Snack Attack at the Dorms

So I'm this super strict person about rules and schedules, but lately something weird has been happening. You know how you're supposed to be quiet after a certain time in college dorms? Yeah, well... last night, I got this uncontrollable urge to raid the vending machine outside my building at 1:00 AM. The thing is, there are rules about that too, you can't just keep grabbing snacks for yourself because someone else might need them. But then something silly happened, I thought maybe the vending machines would give me a discount in the middle of the night or something ridiculous like that! I mean, logically speaking, why would it do that? It was just one of those moments where my brain had no filter at all. After getting caught by a sleepy-eyed RA, who gave me this look like I'd broken some unspoken dorm pact, I felt so guilty. Yet, here's the funny part, I actually convinced myself that maybe having an occasional late-night snack could be considered a necessary evil to avoid day-time grogginess! Anyway, now I'm left with these mixed feelings about breaking my own rules for a bag of chips... Am I just too weird or is it kind of okay? Thoughts on how to balance midnight munchies and dorm etiquette?
