The Night I Pulled The Most Disastrous Prank Ever

So, here's a little confession from my time working as a bartender. A few months ago, there was this regular at the bar named Mike. He had a bad habit of leaving his wallet on the counter when he ordered drinks, and one night it was sitting there unattended while I was cleaning up. This sparked an idea in my head, what if we could prank him without him knowing? So, me and a couple friends hatched this grand plan to move his wallet from under his napkin (where he always kept it) to the back of the bar behind the sink, where he wouldn't see it right away. We figured he'd panic for a bit before finding out it was all just a joke. The next night, Mike came in and started complaining that his credit cards were missing. He frantically searched everywhere, even asked if I'd seen them. Of course, we were trying our hardest not to laugh out loud because his reaction was priceless. Eventually, he called the police, thinking his wallet might've been stolen. The cops showed up, and there I am, looking like the biggest idiot who ever lived for having let this happen. The worst part? Mike never found out it was just a prank gone terribly wrong. And to make things worse, the bar manager found out about our little scheme. We all got written warnings and had to apologize to Mike personally. It felt pretty humiliating at the time, but looking back on it now, I would still probably do something like that again if given another chance, because sometimes a good prank is worth the fallout.
