Had A Boring Week At The Office

This week at work has been one of those weeks where everything feels mundane and pointless. I know I should be grateful for a steady job in these times, but sometimes the repetition just grinds me down. So, last Friday when we had our usual team meeting, I couldn't resist playing around with my coworker's Zoom background. I set her photo to one of those random memes that show up on Facebook, something silly about cats or Star Wars, and watched her face go from confusion to rage in real-time over the video call. It felt so petty and immature, but also oddly satisfying. Afterward, I felt this weird mix of guilt and glee. I’m not proud of it at all, but how do you handle boredom when everyone’s too busy staring at screens to talk properly? Now I have this nagging feeling that she’ll find out who did it soon, and I might end up having an awkward conversation with HR. But really, what else could I have done? It was just one of those moments where the tedium got to me.
